PFM COVID-19 Update 02

At PFM UK we would like to keep our customers up to date about how we’re responding to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis, including the measures we’re putting in place to support customers and keep everybody involved safe.

We understand that production lines are being stretched to the max as the high demand for fresh produce continues, and we want to ensure that you are fully supported in keeping packaging machinery running efficiently at this time. We are working with our sister companies within the PFM Group around the world to source machinery and get it delivered as quickly as possible. Collaborating with our partners in Germany has meant that we have been able to supply food packaging machines to the UK and Ireland very quickly, and we will continue to work across the PFM group to meet the need for additional machinery and parts.

Medical device companies in particular are under extreme pressure, and PFM UK recently supplied an additional machine to a company which produces breathing tube kits. Our continued policy of keeping a large stock of machinery and parts at our headquarters in Leeds meant that we were able to fulfil that order in record time.

In order to maintain social distancing and avoid unnecessary contact, rather than sending out an engineer, PFM has begun to send out instructional videos and assembly photographs where possible so that experienced operators familiar with packaging machinery can install equipment themselves.

We are also in the process of developing PFM Bridge, an online customer support platform, which will allow us to hold virtual meetings with our customers, carry out maintenance of machines via remote access, train technicians and guide customers through installations and technical queries.

In the face of these challenging times, we are committed to giving customers the ability to quickly access these vital services and we’re currently collating all of these tools together into a virtual interactive system.

We would like to take this opportunity to wish all our customers the very best and many thanks to you all for your continued support during this unprecedented time.
